摘要

The acidic pH in the natural habitat of the ornamental fish. Devario aequipinnatus in the hill streams of Meghalaya causes severe physiological stress, which is reflected in gradual population decline, poor growth., and reproductive inefficiency of the fish. A Transmission Electron Microscopic study of some vital tissues revealed a number of abnormalities, which could be rectified only by rearing the fish fingerlings to maturity at neutral P(H) of water.
