FURUKAWA-SKY: ESTABLISHES LOCAL COMPANY IN VIETNAM TO PRODUCE ALUMINUM CASTINGS

Furukawa-Sky Aluminum Corp. said it has established Furukawa-Sky Aluminum (Vietnam) Inc., a fully-owned subsidiary in Vietnam, to expand production base for aluminum castings in the country. The local company was established on January 11, 2008, at a paid-up capital of 6 million dollar. Furukawa-Sky had commissioned Furukawa Automotive Parts (Vietnam) Inc. to carry out production of part of its requirement. The Vietnamese company is a subsidiary of Furukawa Automotive Parts inc., which is an affiliate of Furukawa Electric Co. But following the establishment of the new company, Furukawa-Sky will start up its own plant in January 2007 and expand production system for precision-cast aluminum for auto applications. The company is planning to lift the current monthly production capacity of 300,000 units of castings to 700,000 by the end of 2008.
