'Chivalry' A neglected aspect in sexual offender treatment?

Within the therapeutic setting with sexual offenders descriptions characterized by certain kinds of chivalrous ideas, statements or behavior toward women can be observed in addition to hostile attitudes. The present contribution approaches the phenomenon based on the social psychological theory of ambivalent sexism. The relevance and potential consequences of benevolent sexist attitudes for the therapeutic work with sexual offenders are discussed and implications for further research will be presented.
