Sure, it may be absurd to suggest that a school desk will protect you from a nuclear blast (duck and cover!), but there is a value in preparing for worst-case scenarios. Small and medium-sized businesses are often under the misconception that emergency planning represents an unnecessary-cost, explains Adrian Gordon, executive director of the Canadian Centre for Emergency Preparedness. Yet proper planning can actually make the difference between profit and a lost business in the event of a crisis.
