摘要

Successful grain aeration is not as simple as installing a fan on a silo and turning it on. And understanding air pressure, not just airflow is a crucial part of the process. Recent wet harvests have resulted in more grain being harvested, with highermoisture levels, which has highlighted the issue of farm silo aeration and drying. A team of scientists and extension staff working as part of the Cooperative Research Centre for National Plant Biosecurity is developing a method to help farmers and advisors better measure the working airflow of fans for aeration. The project team includes Philip Burrill and Dr Andrew Ridley from the Queensland Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) and Dr Chris Saunders from the University of South Australia.
