Rapid tooling speeds up the manufacture of prototype injection moulds

Rapid tooling, meaning the application of rapid prototyping methods in toolmaking, is an ideal wayof cutting the development time required for injection moulds. Scope for rationalization lies above all in the use of laser methods to process metal powders. Using such methods it is possible to manufacture precision-dimensioned mould inserts capable of processing plastics in series production. Even the direct manufacture of series production tools would appear possible.
