I was once told, by an old and experienced hack, that you'd never need more than. 300' kilowatts in a road car. Anything more, I was told, was unusable. It was long ago, though, back when the notion of a 430kW road-going sedan - let alone a full-fruit luxury sedan capable of sanguine daily driving - was pure science fiction. He's wrong, of course. And not simply because today's science allows upwards of 300kW to be plied to public tarmac as effectively as only race-cars could back in the day.
