Although Lamborghini and Ferrari hogged the supercar spotlight at the Geneva motor show with the Murcielago LP640 and 599 GTB, Italy's third mega-car maker Pagani actually won the power race with its 477kW Zonda Roadster F Clubsport. Billed as the world's fastest and most expensive convertible (Porsche's Carrera GT and Koenigsegg's CCX are targas), the Roadster F Clubsport is powered by a 7.3-litre Mercedes-Benz AMG V12. The monster engine thumps out its 477kW at a docile 6200rpm and rotates the Earth with 780Nm at 4000rpm - all without a turbo or supercharger in sight. And the engine is a work of art, with highly-polished intake trumpets and plenty of perfect carbon-fibre work. The grunt is channelled through an extremely robust six-speed manual gearbox that features a conventional clutch pedal and stubby stick shifter. The Zonda's creator (and ex-Lamborghini materials engineer), Horacio Pagani, is very much an old-school purist, hence the absence of a paddle-shift box.
