Right up until the VE Commodore, it's probably fair to say that the Falcon had the drop on Holden when it came to big-car steering response and feel. That said, the BA Falcon was a bit of a disappointment in that area and the old, unloved AU definitely had a more tactile front end. So, Ford knew exactly where it could score some points with the new FG platform. The challenge was to make the new Falcon steer better and with more feedback for the driver, so it bit the bullet and called in the experts from Bishop Steering Technology and Delphi Steering. Bishop Steering Technology is part of the Bishop Technology Group. It was kicked off in Australia more than 40 years ago by a bloke called Arthur Bishop and now 20 per cent of all cars built in the world today use some form of Bishop technology.
