Experiences with a commercial Relaxin-Assay for pregnancy diagnosis in the dog [German]

Blood plasma samples were collected in 46 pregnant and 24 non pregnant bitches of different breeds between day 20 and 57 after ovulation and were analysed for Relaxin using the ReproCHEK((TM)) RELAXIN Test (Fa. Synbiotics). The assessment of the optical density occurred by bichromatic measurement and subjectively by eye. The stability of the Relaxin molecule was tested in plasma samples incubated at 5 degreesC, 20 degreesC and 37 degreesC for up to 4 days. Furthermore the values obtained by subjective estimation in whole blood and blood plasma were compared.
