This section is comprised of summaries of 15 posters presented at the 57th Annual Congress of the German Society for Small Animal Medicine. The topics covered include effects of a new iron oxide-based phosphate binder on renal excretion of phosphorus in adult cats, juvenile sterile granulomatous dermatitis and lymphadenitis in dogs, systemic infection with Prototheca zopfii genotype 2 in dogs, indications for the use of locking nail (Targon Vet) in veterinary medicine, determination of radio-ulnar incongruence in dogs with elbow dysplasia using 3-D models, gait analysis and imaging studies of dogs before and after arthroscopic supply of a fragmented coronoid process, intraoperative radiation therapy in small animal medicine, use of a new method (Modified Maquet Procedure) for cruciate ligament surgery in the dog, comparative analysis of 2 TPLO plate system with respect to associated complications and postoperative lameness, computed tomographic morphology and anatomy of the elbow joint in special breed dogs with focus on the medial coronoid process of ulna, proximal angulated ulna leveling, density and distribution of conjunctival goblet cells and special features of the glands in the eye of chinchillas (Chinchilla laniger), conservative versus surgical treatment of metacarpal and metatarsal fractures in dogs, computed tomographic manifestations of acanthomatous ameloblastoma in the dog and differentiation between diffuse idiopathic hyperostosis and spondylosis deformans.
