Arthroscopically guided tenotomy of the tendon of the biceps brachii muscle for the treatment of bicipital disease.

Arthroscopically guided tenotomy of the tendon of the biceps brachii muscle is a relatively new curative treatment option for degenerative and chronic inflammatory diseases of this tendon. A total of 30 dogs were included in the study, of which 28 had unilateral surgery and two had bilateral surgery. The medical records of the dogs were reviewed for breed, age, sex, weight and purpose of the dog. A follow-up control was done in all cases after 12 months, though some cases could be controlled for more than three years. In 26 of the 30 dogs, the result was good to excellent with the dogs returning to their usual activity. From this data, it can be concluded that tenotomy of the tendon of the biceps brachii muscle is a less invasive and time-consuming alternative to biceps tendon tenodesis..
