摘要

At first glance, sampling molten iron seems like a straightforward task that requires little monitoring. But if not addressed on a regular basis as part of a training refresher, sampling practices and accuracy of results often deteriorate. Molten iron samplers should have two critical objectives: 1. Ensure that the sample disk or coin represents the bath of metal being sampled. Anything that contributes to non-homogeneity in the bath (e.g. a late addition or low temperature before the silicon carbide has fully dissociated) will provide a non-representative sample.
