Energy savings on an Olympic scale is London Games legacy

Cofely's Energy Centres for the 2012 Olympic Park are the largest such schemes to be built to date in the UK. As well as powering the Games they will provide the basis for a larger trigeneration legacy over a wide area. The Mayor of London has a target to generate 25% of London's energy locally by 2025, and the investment in Olympic games facilities provides a huge opportunity to invest also in the necessary energy infrastructure. At the heart of the scheme are two new buildings, energy centres that aim to provide efficient low-carbon power, heating and cooling across the site not only for the 2012 Olympic Games but also, through a district heating network, for the new buildings and communities that will develop after 2012, the so-called legacy of the games.
