The Figure Modeller's Odyssey - An Article of Reflection

I staned my long and continuing odyssey as a figure modeller in the early 1970's when as an 8 year old kid I saw the Tamiya 1 -35th scale German Infantry 4 figure set on the shelves of my local toy store. I remember I bought the kit out of my pocket money allowance of 52. It was love at first sight! Throughout the 1970's and into the 1980's I bought more Tamiya kits, gradually expanding from figure sets to small vehicles and then AFV's. While I enjoyed making AFV's I found that 1 was increasingly spending more and more lime painting the crew figures. It was around this time I started to learn more about scale figures and started to look for them in the local hobby shops, however in those days (as today-) they were few and far between.
