The main bearing was placed onto the spindle. In my case, this was so tight that I had to resort to applying force to marry the two together (photo 40). The armature was then added to the main shaft as shown in photo 41 and this proved to be a slack fit - the shaft it had originally fitted was scored to give some high points for it to grip. With some trepidation I applied some Loctite Studlock to hold it in place which seems to have been a success and, by luck or otherwise, the armature is not detectably mis-aligned. The end result is seen in photo 42. The back bearing was installed in the end cap and the coil into the main body. Test fitting of the body and the end cap ensured that the coil cables passed easily through the milled holes (photo 43). The shaft was then fed through the nose of the main body and the bearings pushed into place. The front cap was added and all securing screws tightened. Finally, the MT2 mandrel was fixed in place.
