BIODIESEL OUTPUT HITS FIVE-MONTH HIGH DESPITE POOR FUNDAMENTALS

FAME production in Argentina in January 2013 was 158,499 tonnes. This five-month high was up on 135,299 tonnes in the prior month but sharply below the 257,933 one year earlier, when export prospects and economics had been better (Jan/Dec 2012: 2.455 mln). It was the highest monthly output since last summer when the Argentine government cut the reference price for the domestic market and reduced the advantages for biodiesel from the export tax differentials.
