From the ashes of subprime crisis, stock markets have risen like a phoenix in the month of September. The newspaper heading "From subprime shock to sublime 16k" when the Sensex: crossed 16000 points, reflects the spirit of the events of the financial markets in the month. Soon after that, the Sensex also notched up the fastest 1000-point run ever - from 16000 to 17000 in a five -day flash and is racing towards the 18000 -level. The US Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, with his first rate cut spurred steroidal rallies across global equity markets and gave the base metals a fresh impetus. Commodity prices surged with gold marching towards a 28-year peak, copper rallying to a seven-week peak and the rupee hitting below 40 level against the dollar.
