World coffee futures moved into different directions as heavy rainfall in Vietnam led to harvest disruptions there, wich supported robusta values, while arabica futures continued to deflate. The benchmark March arabica contract fell another 3.35 cents to 142.45 cents/lb, after hitting a four-month low at 138.75 cents on December 12. The May contract dropped 3.40 cents to 144.80 cents/lb. In contrast, the most-active March robusta contract gained $40 to settle at $2,083 a tonne, with the nearby January contract adding $33 to $2,097 a tonne.
