The export of about 34 mln bags of arabica and conillon beans, soluble coffee, plus a small amount of roast and ground coffee earned Brazil's coffee industry more than $8 bn last year. This was almost 40% more as in 2010 and the most for at least 50 years. With coffee in short supply worldwide, the price of Brazilian arabica beans came close to $280 per 60-kg bag in late 2010, or $2.50 per lb.
