A high-profile government team is to be set up next month in a bid to help major infrastructure project promoters avoid delays arising from European wildlife directives.The Major Infrastructure and Environment Unit is due to be established next month by DEFRA. It is one of the key measures in DEFRA's review of regulations implementing the EU habitats and wild birds directives.The review says the unit will aim to reduce risk for promoters by identifying habitats issues early on and giving clarity on key requirements, as well as ensuring collaboration between the parties.
