Extension of time allowed for Purbeck stone quarry

An application to extend the timescale for quarrying of Purbeck stone at Southard quarry, Swanage, and to increase HGV movements has been approved by Dorset County Council. Southard quarry was in open countryside 0.7 kilometres north of the Swanage coast.The applicant company quarried and processed Purbeck stone at a number of sites in the area. The site was within an area of outstanding natural beauty and close to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
