AngloGold to invest in Brazil; Plan calls for $250 million/year through 2016 to raise gold output

ANGLOGOLD ASHANTI announced plans to invest $250 million each year through 2016 to raise its Brazilian output of the precious metal by two-thirds, said chief executive Mark Cutifani. AngloGold Ashanti is currently the world's No. 3 gold producer and plans to take output in Brazilian operations from 131 to 21.71 (420,000 to 700,000 oz) in that five-year period, Cutifani told reporters at a mining conference sponsored by Brazilian miners' association Ibram, Reuters reported.
