Super Sherman

During the early 1950s the Israeli government received a number of Sherman tanks from France, which in turn had been given to the French from US stocks under the 'Mutual Defense Assistance Programme' MDAP at the end of WWII. When these tanks were delivered they were put straight into action and still retained their French brown shade of Olive Drab. Initially, they went into action with no markings whatsoever, apart from a small registration number painted on a black rectangle. Experience soon gained led to the use of both large air identification and call sign markings to improve command and control and reduce friendly fire incidents. It's one of these vehicles I have based my model on. Construction starts with the addition of the transmission housing to the lower hull tub and this is where I came across the first problem, two large and unsightly gaps above and below parts K27, the plates around the sprocket mounts. I ended up filling these using a combination of Milliput and plasticard.
