Academy supply the first of two 1/48 aircraft featuring VF111 'Sundowners' markings this month, and to be honest I think Academy's F-14 has to be my favourite, sporting those famous 'rising sun' rays adorning the twin tail fins of this iconic fighter. Also in quarter scale is the workbench filling SU-30 MKK (Flanker-G), this really is a truly impressive aircraft and a really monster in 1/48, just be prepared to sacrifice a lot of shelf space for this beauty. One thing I would love to know, is why we have so many scales for ship models? Yes, 1/350 and 1/700 are industry standard, which is great for displaying a series of ships all in the same scale to show the difference in size of the real things, but what bugs me is all the other 'random' scales, which can't really be displayed in a collection! This brings me to Academy's final two releases for this month, the 1/350 HMS Warspite, and the random 1/400th scale Titanic, which we know will please fans of these impressive ships.
