摘要

South American newcomers to the North American food scene pack their share of disease-fighting antioxidants. These fruits carry exotic names such as agai and mangosteen. More traditional domestic fruits such as blueberries and cranberries counterwith their own high antioxidant content levels. Innovations involving these socalled "super fruits" have taken hold in the food industry. The Innova Database from Innova Market Insights, Duiven, The Netherlands, tracked 5,291 food and drink launches featuring berries in 2005. Many of them promoted healthy aspects of cranberries and blueberries. Product introductions containing fruits such as noni, ac,ai, mangosteen and pomegranate increased to 232 in 2005 from 111 in 2004.
