The high price of fuel today is the biggest challenge propane marketers have faced in years,and it is a major concern for the industry,says Nutie Dowdle,chairman of the National Propane Gas Association(NPGA).Dowdle's"day job"is chairman and CEO of Dowdle Gas Inc.(Columbus,Miss.),which was founded by his father,John,in 1956.His company has survived and thrived under the direction of two generations of his family.A third generation,son John Charles and daughter Wendy,is now active in the company,which has retail and wholesale operations in five Southern states.
