There are around 4,000 electric cars registered in the UK. Despite models being offered by a number of leading manufacturers, such as Nissan, Toyota and Renault, the desire to quicken the pace of take-up is felt across government, carbon campaigners and the automotive industry itself. Now, a half-a-billion pound package announced by ministers at the Cenex LCV2013 is the very latest move to tackle the general reluctance among UK motorists to move away from conventionally-powered cars.
