Within two months of launching the first nickel laterite heap leaching pilot plant in the Philippines, the proponents behind the downstream processing exercise announced they intended to merge. In early February, the publicly-listed European Nickel Plc and Australia's Rusina Mining NL said they had signed a merger implementation agreement whereby the former would acquire the entire issued share capital of the latter by way of a scheme of arrangement.
