Juniors converge on historic landscape

Vast tracts of land around the gold mining capital are now in the hands of just a few junior companies, thanks partly to giant Placer Dome Incorporated divesting the majority of its non-core assets while, at the same time, maintaining its key mining areas. This has opened the way for a small group of switched-on juniors to take up the ground and, in the process, become the largest tenement holders within a 100 kilometre radius of the regional centre of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. These include the likes of Cazaly Resources Ltd, Siberia Mining Corporation Ltd, Jackson Gold Ltd, Heron Resources and Pioneer Nickel Ltd. In terms of Cazaly, the exploration house has 23 projects covering more than 1,500 square km. Meanwhile Siberia has (plus) 1,500 sq km, Pioneer Nickel has 1,400 sq km and Jackson controls 770 sq km.
