SIMULATOR DRILL RIG training is now a reality for the Australian drilling industry thanks to research kicked off two years ago by Central TAFE and funded by the Minerals Drilling Association of Australia (MDAA). In 2006, a diamond drill rig simulator, designed by iVEC courtesy of a 33,000 dollars grant from the MDAA, was launched at the association's symposium. Originally designed to run simply on a keyboard, the grant from the MDAA resulted in the machine being made more hands-on, with levers now housed on the operating panel.
