He may not have been talking on behalf of his employer, but Queensland Resources Council president Steve de Kruijff no doubt echoed some of the views of mining giant Xstrata Pic during a recent public appearance at the Hilton Hotel in Brisbane. Speaking at the launch of the Queensland Exploration Council in late March, de Kruijff said the controversial Wild Rivers legislation - which had already knocked one significant bauxite development on the head - "could potentially stymie a range of new projects and mine expansions in the north west minerals province south of Mt Isa".
