New Hope Corporation, which was listed last September, reported a 32.89 million dollars net profit for the six months to the end of January - up from 21 million dollars in the previous corresponding period. The miner said the result included an after-tax, non-regular item of 13.6 million dollars from the settlement of a handling contract through its PT Indonesia Bulk Terminal (IBT) business. Sales revenue increased 6.3 percent to 94.2 million dollars, coal production increased 17 percent to 13.5 million tonnes and all mining operations performed ahead of budget. New Hope Coal has open cut mines in the Moreton Basin of southern Queensland and undeveloped reserves in Central Queensland. It also has an interest in the PT Adaro open cut coal mine on the Indonesian island of South Kalimantan.
