Time to move forward is now: Anglo American

If 2005 was the year international promises were made to help reduce debt, alleviate poverty and promote development in Africa, then 2006 is the year these pledges must be carried out. That was the opinion of P. Lazarus Zim, chief executive of the publicly-listed Anglo American's South African arm. Speaking during the first morning of Indaba 2006, Zim indicated the continent stood to benefit from the recent high commodity prices. He also praised the South African Government for establishing "certainty and clarity" in the country's mining legislation. Furthermore, Zim noted, the mining sector should continue to engage and bring black enterprises into the economic mainstream in terms of procurement.
