The Grasberg strike may have finally come to an end, but the plight of the world’s major copper mines is far from over. The latest operation to be hit by strike action is First Quantum’s Kansanshi mine in Zambia. Workers came out on a two day strike last week, which is believed to have cost the plant somewhere in the order of 1,400 tonnes of finished copper.
