Official detailed Chinese provincial copper production estimates for May have just been published, and while the headline national total of 652,379 tonnes is in line with that already released, it is worth looking in a little more in detail at developments on a provincial level. What is particularly interesting to note is that during May, only within eight of the 25 reporting provinces were smelters running at rates over and above those recorded for the whole of 2014.
