Report: LNG Market To Remain Oversupplied Until 2024

LNG may remain oversupplied until 2024 and could further delay final investment decisions (FID) for LNG projects in the next 12 to 18 months, according to a new report from McKinsey Energy Insights. The current supply glut will further increase as a result of new export terminals being developed in the U.S. and Australia, which will add 100 million metric tons per year (mt/year) of capacity in the next few years and result in the supply overhang increasing to 60 million mt/year by 2019.
