SOME COMPETITION ASPECTS THE ROMANIAN STEELWORKS ARE FACING BEFORE THE ACCESS OF THE COUNTRY INTO THE EUROPEAN UNION

The iron and steel industry represents, together with textile industry and agriculture, one of the most difficult files, discussed with European Union officials, in order to ensure the access of Romania into the Union. In this respect, since 199Z many strategy studies were performed in order to find out the directions and targets to be accomplished by Romanian steelworks, to adopt to the difficult competition conditions of European Union. The authors of this paper, base don their own professional experience, are trying to define some competition aspects Romanian steelworks are facing, presenting also suggestions about steps which have to be adopt at in order to ensure the access of their products in European market.
