摘要

In the absence of adequate data for metallurgical slurry system such as rheocastable slurries, water modelling study has been used to understand particle suspension status during processing under varying conditions. For this, sand-water system and sand - aqueous CaCl_2 slurry systems representing molten Al/Mg alloy-SiC paniculate slurry systems, agitated by propeller type of stirrer were studied under varying conditions of design variables viz. type of stirrer, shape, angle and number of stages of blades and process parameters like rps, location and direction of rotation of stirrer, concentration of slurries etc. The apparent viscosity of the slurry was found to be strongly dependent upon particle suspension conditions.
