摘要

Sliding wear behaviour of an aluminium alloy (Al-7010) and aluminium alloy (Al-7010)-25wt percent SiCp composite was examined under varying applied loads (1kg to 10kg) at a fixed speed of 3.35m/s. Different parameters like coefficient of friction, temperature rise, wear and seizure resistance as a function of sliding distance and applied load were studied. Variation of these parameters as a function of sliding distance and applied load were discussed on the basis of prevailing wear mechanism. The wear mechanism was studied through EDX and X-ray diffraction analysis of the worn surfaces and microscopic examination of the developed wear tracks.
