From its introduction in 1987, the Accumetrix* continuous temperature measurement system hasdeveloped into a cost-effective and reliable technology for measurement of molten steel temperaturein the tundish. Improvements in the design of the outer protector tube have kept pace with the trendtowards longer sequence lengths, and the availability of user-friendly mechanical handling systemshas helped to decrease operational costs. The benefits of continuous steel temperature measurement are better steel quality, machineproductivity and automation. A probe calibration meter and a tundish monitoring system have beendeveloped, thus further increasing the reliability of the casting process.
