Operating in a very competitive market in Japan, the three-decade-old Trumpf Corp. (Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture) appears to be going strong. The wholly-owned unit of Trumpf G.m.b.H. & Co. K.G. (Ditzingen, Germany), currently the world's largest machine-tool builder, raised its sales to about 125-million dollars for the year ended June 30, 2008. A company source who reported the figure to the Nikkan Kogyo business daily also said that Japanese users have so far placed nine orders for the TruMatic 7000, a punching and laser multitasking model developed by German engineers for the Japanese market and unveiled at the Japan International Machine Tool Fair in October-November 2008.
