Second phase of slab caster revamping at Arcelor Dunkerque, France

CONTINUOUS CASTING In 2004, Arcelor decided to thoroughly modernize all its slab casters in operation at Dunkerque. The order for the overall project, which is implemented in three phases - one per year and each involving the complete rebuilding of a two-strand slab caster - was awarded to Danieli. Phase 1 of the project, presently in the advanced stage of equipment manufacturing, involved the complete rebuilding of slab caster CC23 to upgrade the original curved design into state-of-the-art, vertical curved technology. Phase 3, to be implemented during 2007, will see the same modification to caster CC21.
