Advanced hot strip and plate production on Steckel mills and plate-Steckel mills

Steckel mill rolling was originally developed as a flexible and economic means of producing small to medium quantities of hot-rolled strip. Recent technological developments now allow Steckel mills to produce strip at higher capacities and with an increased range of product dimensions. The introduction of the plate-Steckel mill concept for the production of both strip and plates with the same facility again shows how flexible and economic Steckel mill rolling is. VAI has actively contributed to the development of the Steckel mill process and has been involved with nearly all of the major Steckel mill projects in recent years.
