To supplement its existing product line foradvanced ceramics, H.C. Starck GmbH & Co KG, Goslar,has developed a new boron carbide powder that is saidto be especially suitable for hot pressing. Marketedunder the name boron carbide (B4C) grade 15, this newproduct is desgned for use in wear parts forhardmetal-working, in metal matrix composites, butparticularly to produce lining material such as neutronabsorbers for protection against exposure in the nuclear industry.
