The New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York City, designed by Tokyo-based architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa/SA-NAA with executive architect Gensler, New York City, is the first art museum ever constructed from the ground up in downtown Manhattan. The New Museum is the city's only museum devoted entirely to contemporary art. It was recently named one of Conde Nast Traveler's "new seven wonders of the architecture world." Sejima and Nishizawa designed the building so that it would change with the city; the highly polished aluminum mesh reflects sunlight perfectly while also distorting it. As the sun changes throughout the day, the building changes from orange in the morning, white during the day and red at dusk.
