Leading By Example

"Sustainable", "Green" and "LEED" are frequently referenced with the increased interest in more environmentally-friendly design and construction practices. Now common in the vocabulary of architects, engineers, contractors, major suppliers and manufacturers, these progressive concepts could translate someday into higher performance requirements for building codes. Projects in the United States and Canada supplied with metal building systems by Butler Manufacturing Co. represent examples of facilities that incorporate sustainable (i.e. "Green") design and project delivery criteria. Some have even passed the test of LEED certification, an acronym for "Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design". The certification program is administered in a slightly different form by the U.S. Green Building Council and the Canada Green Building Council.
