A 90,000 sq. ft., three-story storage facility open for business ASAP-that's what Avon Self-Storage Partners wanted. It also wanted erection to take place in the middle of winter. To facilitate the tight construction schedule, Steel Elements Inc. of Gorham, NH, was selected as the single-source provider of the steel framing and components. The manufacturer generated electronic construction documents that included three-dimensional, isometric perspectives for faster dissemination of information to the entire building team, including designer Jack Wilburn, RA, of McLean, VA. Deliveries of materials started within two weeks of Steel Elements receiving the order. To save time on the jobsite for Boardwalk Development LLC, the Mansfield, MA, contractor and erector, Steel Elements assembled the door headers and piers, as well as several other framing components, in the shop prior to shipping.
