The first two articles in this series were presented by me, Des Cole, as they recorded research trips undertaken on my own or with other people, as noted at the beginning of the second article. It is now appropriate to include Naureen as a co-author,as we have done this and all subsequent trips together, and all our Lithoparian activities have been on the basis of a full partnership. In fact, Naureen, with her eyes nearer to the ground, has usually been the first to find plants at any locality. Where the first person singular pronoun 'I' is used, it refers to Des. Please not also that in the first two and subsequent articles we use the names of Lithops taxa, with few exceptions, as they were published originally by Dr H.W. de Boer and others. Thosewere the names which we used at that time. However, in Lithops - Flowering Stones, 1988 and 2005, we adopted a significant revision embracing the categories of 'subspecies' and 'variety' which had not been used before, or had been used only to a very limited extent in the case of 'variety'.
