Accumulation of scandium in the shoots of aquatic bryophytes in acid water

The contents of scandium (Sc) in the shoots of aquatic bryophytes from rivers, streams, lakes and springs were determined using inductively coupled plasma. The shoots of aquatic bryophytes were found to accumulate scandium in acid water, attaining a level as 33 μg g−1inScapania undulata(L.) Dum. in an acid stream with a pH of about 4.2.
